Biorika was started in 2017 by Macit Hasim and Lourens du Plessis in buying organic macadamia and pecan nuts from local farms and exporting to the growing European market. They are the sole directors of the company and passionate about the organic production of produce.
Macadamias
We currently oversee production of one macadamia farm outside Nelspruit in the Lowveld and act as advisers on and suppliers of products used and approved for organic production. This includes organic fertilizer and micro-biological supplements improving root development and overall tree health, foliar feed as well as fungicides and pesticides.
Pecans
We are currently supplied of pecan nuts from one pecan nut farm in the Northern Cape and we act as advisers on the organic products used for fertilizers and supplements. Pecan nuts are not prone to insects and fungi and therefor the organic spraying of insecticides and pesticides are not required.

Biorika International specializes in the trade and export of organic macadamia and pecan nuts from South Africa mainly to Europe.
Our Farms
The Macadamia Farm overseen by Biorika is situated in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga where the climate is perfect to produce macadamias. The macadamia production is blooming in this area, where the combination of humidity and good rainfall makes it ideal to grow these trees.
Our Pecan Nut Farm is situated along the Orange River in the Karoo region of the Northern Cape Province.
100% Organic
Both our farms are audited once a year before harvest season by an accredited company, Control Union Certification, when samples are collected and tested for any traces of chemical residues to comply to organic standards by law.
